Parking Lot Striping

Line Marking

Project Scenario

Charlotte has a parking area that needs grid lines. The lines for the parking stalls are fading away. How does she re-paint them?

Preparation

  • Review local zoning laws for handicap and fire zone clearances and distances.
  • Moss and mildew should be treated with a recommended cleaner.
  • Pressure wash to remove dirt and other contaminants. Let dry thoroughly; At least 24 hours.
  • Immediately prior to striping, use a landscape blower to remove loose impediments.

Primer Coat

No primer needed. Cloverdale Paint's Zone Marking Paint is self-priming


Top Coat

70254, Acrylic Line and Zone Marking Paint.  Intended for use on concrete or bituminous roads, walkways, parking lots and curbs. It is lead and chromate-free and formulated to meet CGSB-1.219 requirements.

Caution! Things to consider

  • Allow for off site parking for 24 hours while application occurs
  • Weather must be dry 24 hours prior to painting.
  • Zone marking paint is dry to touch in 30 minutes.
  • Safe to drive over stripe after 1 hour at 50°F
  • Avoid rainfall for 4 hours at 50°F after re-striping
  • Line strippers can be difficult to locate at rental yards. We do see them for multiple application uses. Plywood guides and a 3 inch or 4 inch roller cover are very efficient.
  • Stencils for letters, numbers, and symbols are available online through Titan.
