The Standard in Environmentally Friendly Coatings
Horizon is a new generation of paint specifically formulated to significantly reduce polluting vapours and odours released into the air which can be harmful or irritating to the user or occupants of the areas being painted
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are invisible solvent vapours which are released into the air as the paint film is applied and dries. VOCs contribute to ground level ozone.
Intended Uses
Designed for "Green Construction" where specifiers require products which have less impact on the environment and meet technical requirements to achieve LEED™ points.
Suited for schools, hospitals, nursing homes, nurseries, public buildings or where occupants may be sensitive to residual paint smell or wish to leave behind a smaller environmental “footprint”.
Horizon is Green Wise® Certified, qualifies for LEED™ credit points and has MPI approval.
What is Green Wise®?

Products bearing the GREEN WISE label have been tested and certified by Coatings Research Group, Incorporated to meet environmentally determined performance standards established by CRGI’s ISO-accredited facility for specific product types and to meet or exceed the VOC requirements of LEED® for most applications. GREEN WISE certified products do not contain certain chemicals which have been determined to be harmful to humans or our environment.
The GREEN WISE mark is your assurance that these products have been tested under strict laboratory conditions by a degreed scientist, and meet or exceed scientifically determined environmental standards.
Coatings Research Group, Incorporated is an international organization of paint manufacturers, staffed with degreed chemists, and recognized the world over for its high quality technical work and scientific reporting. The CRGI laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited by Laboratory Accreditation Bureau. Visit CRGI Web Site HERE.
What is LEED™
LEED™ stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is designed to help guide commercial building projects in green and sustainable design. Many public and private buildings are now being built to LEED™ standards.
The concept is to design and construct buildings that meet the "Green Building" standard with an aim to improve occupant well-being, economic returns and environmental performance of builidings employing new and innovative standards in construction practices.
The LEED™ standard for paint (Credit 4.2) states:
Intent: Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, potentially irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of the installers and occupants.
Requirement: VOC emissions from paints and coatings must not exceed VOC and chemical component limits of Green Seal Standard GS-11.
The Horizon line of interior, exterior and primer products are all Green Wise® certified, which meet the LEED™ standard for paint and it credit points.
