About Cloverdale Paint > Rodda Paint

In 2004, Cloverdale Paints’ Chairman, Wink Vogel, and Thomas J. Braden, Chairman of Rodda Paint Co. recognized the common strengths of their well-respected family-owned regional paint companies and reached an agreement to merge the two companies commencing January 2005. The merged organization continues to operate under the Cloverdale name in Canada and under the Rodda name in the United States. The combined business will continue to deliver premier formulations customized to the needs of major commercial and industrial customers in Western Canada and the Northwest United States.

Cloverdale Paint Inc. employs over 600, operates over 55 branches in Western Canada and Washington State, and has four manufacturing plants in Canada. Rodda Paint Co. employs over 350, operates over 40 branches in Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho and Alaska and has a manufacturing plant in Portland, Oregon.

Environmentally-friendly coatings remain a focus of the two brands. An example of this commitment is the Green Seal®- certified “Horizon” paint line. This was the first paint line to be certified by Green Seal® and both the interior and exterior Horizon coatings qualify for LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points established by the Green Building Rating System of the U.S. Green Building Council. Both interior and exterior versions have low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and no harmful chemical components. At the same time, they meet all performance standards for scrubbability, hiding power and washability, and contain agents that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew.

The joining of the two businesses brings together equal entities that continue to serve customers in the region with the same level of quality service and product innovation that the companies shared as independents.
